CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HANDLOOMS & TEXTILES:

           The Department of  Handlooms and Textiles was separated from the Cooperative Department during the year 1977 with a view to giving fair deal to Handloom Weavers considered to be one of the most vulnerable sections of the Society.

PROFILE:

           The Department of Handlooms and Textiles is concerned with Handlooms Industry both within Cooperative and outside the cooperative fold, power looms both within cooperative and outside the cooperative fold and garmenting industry in the organised and decentralised sector and for setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector. The  Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Mangalagiri is entrusted with the responsibility of supervision over the working of Weavers Cooperative Societies (Cotton, Silk & Wool), Apex Societies, Power Looms Societies and Garment Societies, implementation of schemes relating to Handlooms and Power looms in the Cooperative and Decentralised sector and setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector. under. The Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Mangalagiri  is the Registrar of Co-operative Societies under the A.P.C.S Act. And  also under A.P Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies Act 1995.

           At District Level the Asst. Director, Handlooms and Textiles, Tirupati is the functional Registrar of Coop. Societies under A.P. Coop. Societies Act VII of 1964 for implementation of Weavers Welfare and Developmental schemes in Chittoor District. The Asst. Director of Handlooms and Textiles,  is also vested with statutory and regulatory functions under A.P Cooperative societies Act VII of 1964 and A.P. Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies Act 1995.  The Asst. Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Tirupati, Chittoor Dist. is assisted by Development  Officers  and Asst. Development Officers at field level in the District.
