:: MANGO PULP ::
Mango is called king of fruits and also the national fruit India. Andhra Pradesh enjoys the premier position in Mango production in India. Chittoor District is one of the main Mango growing centre in Andhra Pradesh and major cluster of Mango pulp industries and identified for ODOP for promotion of Mango pulp processing under ODOP initiative. Mango cultivation is age old practice in Chittoor District and Totapuri, Neelum, Beneshan, Lalbhahar, Mulgova etc are predominant varieties cultivated.
Totapuri variety being highly suitable for processing and making of pulp increased in area and production creating avenue for establishment of pulp processing industry in Chittoor. Two young merchants Mr Haneef and Mr Sattar establish fruit processing unit on a small scale level. They obtained license to manufacture fruit juices, mango slices in brine solution for pickles, squashes, syrups etc and setup the unit in Damalcheruvu in the year 1965 as Hanstar fruit products with a capacity of 50 MTs per season. As the area under Totapuri Mango increased processing industry was also expanded resulting establishment of 51 Mango pulp units by 2002.
Introduction of Agri Export Zones created new era with establishment of new Aseptic pulp units and conversion of traditional canning industries to Aseptic pulp units with annual processing capacity of 5 lakhs MTs of Mango pulp by 2023 in Chittoor District.
